Crypto funding declined 30% in August to $2 billion, down from July's $2.67 billion, according to DeFiLlama. Despite the monthly drop, Q3 totals have already surpassed Q2, reaching $4.57 billion in just two months.

Investors are shifting focus from new-chain launches to existing projects, with market analyst Daan crypto Trades noting quieter price movements post-listing due to lower valuations. The trend highlights a maturation phase in crypto investments, with capital flowing toward treasury companies building on established protocols.

While DeFi remains a key sector, funding is increasingly distributed across other verticals. The current cycle's emphasis on infrastructure over speculative launches marks a departure from the 2021-2022 boom.
